Default Dry Top Vanquish

Earlier today I tried to vanquish Dry Top (for those who don't know where that area is, it lies between ettin's back and tangle root). I was not able to succeed. I cleared nearly everything easilly, until I fought a group including 3 protectors. It's hard to kill them, as their heal other is a very strong. I always vanquished with hench only so far. I tried a BHA ranger, but the other 2 protectors still overhealed him. I also tried Olias with Lingering Curse, I almost got him down, but again I failed..

Does someone have any advice?

put one of your heros as a secondary monk...dump some points into smite and try scourge healing....or take a mesmer with caster shut down. Not sure as i don't think i had many problems doing this area when i vanquished it.

I think taking Lingering Curse and BHA is a pretty solid approach. You probably just lacked enough damage on top of that - Such groups are always going to be a complete pain in the ass to kill though. I do remember doing the group, I also know I had a 2 necromancer set up, one a corrupt necro, one spiteful, one had defile flesh (which obviously doesn't stack with lingering).

Ok, guys, thanks for the quick replies.
Maybe you're right yesitsrob, maybe I don't have enough firewpower. I will try again with a 2 necro setup, one SS, other MM, and i'll make one of those carry Scourge Healing.

Monks allways kite in a circle, which means you can herd and bodyblock them - from there its pretty easy to get them caught in a SV/AV backwash. They can't heal with no energy.

When I did Dry Top I went as BHA + Apply Poison. my bar: Broad Head Arrow, Savage Shot, Distracting Shot, Apply Poison, Lightning Reflexes, Troll Unugent,*Natural Stride, Rebirth (Epidemic, Sunspear Rebirth. *With Mesmer secondary)

Had Olias as MM: Flesh Golem, Bone Fiend, Shambling horror, Blood of the Master, Holy Veil, Aegis, Blood Ritual, Rebirth

Whispers as SS: Spiteful Spirit, Suffering, Reckless Haste, Signet of Lost Souls, Blood Ritual, Holy Veil (or dismiss condition), Aegis, Rebirth

Dunkoro as Prot: Life Sheath, Gift of Health, Protective Spirit, Spirit Bond, Shielding Hands, Dismiss Condition, Aegis, Glyph of Lesser Energy.

Alesia - http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Alesia

Dunham - http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Dunham

Also, if you bring a MM you should possibly think about going as R/Me and bringing Epidemic with you so when you get to a group of all healers, BHA w/ Apply poison and then Epidemic them all.. and let the minions shut down the other 2 healers.

But I've for the most part soloed (Hero/Hench) all the zones which I've vanquished using that build and I'm only 13 zones away from Legendary Vanquisher so it's a good team build and I've even used that build with my Heroes, Mhenlo, Zho, Lo Shang, and Linna in GW:EN to do Frostmaw's and many other Dungeons with no problems and +10% MB.

I ran into the same problem when I first tried vanquishing it...killed everything except for the last group of centaurs on the east side, and couldn't get them down because there were three protectors who would constantly kite around.

Ended up simply trying again, the spawn was different with only the typical 1-2 monks every time, and everything died easily

choking gas....it rips apart back lines that stand to close together...and even if they aren't all you have to do is back peddle a bit to make them bunch together.

I've never had a problem with them using SS. you can lock the heroes on to specific targets as well, also makes it easier when killing monks, lock one hero onto one monk and let them wand after they are dazed, and GG casters, GG.

Default Dry top Vanq.

I did almost whole Maguuma Jungle with this setup, 2xMM, 1Mo, Alesia/Mo, Stefan/W.

Its true you face there the popup guys with Verratas Gaze, but I dont care, what are 3 stolen minions against 15 left?

You can do Dry Top using this setup, but you must first have enough firepower (I mean minions of course) before you face the group that consist of 3 monks, than you can forgot about any kind of interrupt, just call one monk after other and they should be done in a minute or so. I faced the group with 3 monks and it went well. Vanquished on the 1st try.
Here is the SShot for the MM builds, but its just standard hero MM, I swaped only elites ... and added Taste of Death
I have only one enchant stripe on my bar, but thats mostly for the fun stealing Mistform from Thorn Stalkers.

I vanquished it with NP, i had an MM hero, SF ele hero (me as SF ele) and a monk, and a couple of hench, took em down fast lol.

Also (Yes i use MM for vanquishing the jungle) But this is why you put Verata's Gaze on your MM's bar aswell, can't beat em then join em? worked good for me.

Dazed > healing
Broadhead arrow + epidemic == win Like Undead Gun says.

It takes a little longer but you can always start out from ToA with a party of 8. Sometimes the xtra firepower comes in handy

I think the post meant to vanquish the areas between them as well. I saw someone with 8 people vanquishing Northern Frontier

Yes, its quite fun ... but now you can use Asuran Gate and that way arrive at North Kryta Province, what make the trip a bit shorter (-2 zones). I vanquished whole ascalon with 8 man fighting from TOA last week. On the first trip I did the The Breach, Pockmark Flats, Regent Valley, Eastern Frontier and the second time Diessa Lowlands, Flame Temple Corridor, Dragon's Gullet with Deldrimor Bowl on the way.

Anyway all Prophecies zones can be done with 8 man if you have enough time and youre patient.

I would recommend a mes hero with interupts/casterhate hexes. But i havent vanquished this area, i hate all healers in HM.. sooooo annoying.

Ps. Can someone just clarify, does Rebel Yell work on all charr? including those in proph? (as seen above)

Rebel Yell works on Level 20+ Charr - i.e., EotN Charr and Hard Mode Ascalon Charr.
